Jing’s note: Chengguan, or China’s city management and law enforcement personnel, are notorious in China for often brutally and inhumanely treating street vendors and tramps, sometimes by beating them and other times by destroying their businesses, and driving them away. Chinese people in chorus detests the powerful and sympathize with the bullied and the weak.
12 chengguan from Urban Management Bureau of Huaiyin District, Jinan in east China performed “Dance of Chengguan.” The video footage has become popular on the Internet. Many Chinese netizens said, “It is unimaginable that chengguan can be so cute!”
Most background music comes from pop culture that ordinary Chinese are very familiar with, including the Korean song Nobody and Song of the Red Star from a classic Chinese revolutionary movie.
The comic dance has gained wide acclaim from online. Many netizens said that these post-1980 chengguan completely changed their impressions of the profession they represent. It is cool.
The plump young man in the middle of the front row has won more praises than any other man on the team, and is dubbed “the middle brother.” “The middle brother will have a promising future in dancing,” a net user joked.
The dance was choreographed by one staff member, Zheng Shiwen, of the bureau for a rally that aim to pep-talk sanitation workers. He said most of his colleagues are young people. He himself is fond of dancing. That’s why he adopted such an approach.

Men dance? I am floored! Where are you, bro? I am right in Huanyin District. I am gonna learn some day.

Too lovely, this bunch of guys.

They were merely rehearsing for the event at the end of the year. No need to make a fuss about nothing.
猫走狗路
Judging simply by the amateurish dance, they absolutely deserve to be called cute. What they do at normal times is determined by the nature of their job. After all, the establishment of that government body itself is to crack down on the people at the bottom of the society.
mslibin1:
A bunch of bastards are dancing.

I think chengguan of Jinan are relatively better. Many trees in the mountainous area in the southern part of Jinan were planted by them. Violent enforcement can be seen near the train station; but there are also many people who are humane. They patrol by driving a pickup and simply order stalls outside to pack up.
