On March 14, Jinjiang Prison in Sichuan province partnered with a local vocational school and started to offer embroidery lessons to its male inmates. According to the person in charge, the prison has been for years following its principle of classifying inmates based on their aptitude and rehabilitating them accordingly, which helps them better manage inmates. The following pictures show a professional embroidered teaching convicts the handicraft.

Brother (Referring to self) just don’t get it,How is asking them to learn this gonna help them when they come out in the future? To open a shoe embroidery shop? Or is it because they’ve been missing out on women for too long, so (the prison) called a few aunties over to be with them and let them entertain themselves with the idea?

(In reply to the previous comment) Why do you need to know? Working in the prison means no pay and high intensity. A business owner can easily get this many unpaid workers if he slips the warden some money.

This is where the prison’s profiteering starts, and where the warden begins to accumulate wealth.

They are actually super cheap labor. I recommend every Behind the Bars (A Chinese work of fiction about life in prison).

Those who are serving a life sentence may even become Dongfang Bubai – an androgynous Needlework Martial Artist – after practicing it…

Those scissors and needles can actually be used as weapons.

Not bad. Can temper their willpower and effectively prevent a second offense.

So brilliant. Inside foreign prisons it is all deep water and scorching fire (Chinese proverb meaning extreme miseries and pitfalls). Only in China can you see a prison of happiness and harmony! Awesome! Haha.

This is good. Doing meticulous work can cultivate one’s mind and character.

Even if you really want them to learn a skill, can it be something else? Embroidery? Have your heads been kicked by a donkey?

Wrong. These prisoners obviously came for a look at the women. Even sniffing at the scent of a women is pleasant.

Don’t give opinion if you know little about it. Embroidery can really exercise people’s patience. My hometown is the birthplace of Jiangsu embroidery. I earned my tuition fee from age 8 to age 16 all by doing embroidery during school breaks. Many people can’t sit through it if they are made to sit there for more than ten hours a day and stitching on the same thing. But if you manage to hang in there, your patience must be great.

They certainly weren’t there for the needlepoint, I’m pretty sure of that.
